Harry Kane is a 'fantasy representing things to come', says Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn

Bayern Munich chief executive Oliver Kahn says Tottenham superstar Harry Kane is a ‘absolutely top striker’ and a ‘dream of the future’ for the Bundesliga giants.

Robert Lewandowski has joined Barcelona after Bayern finally caved into the Pole’s demands to move to the Camp Nou.

It means – for the first time in a decade – the Germans are searching for a new number nine to fill the void left by Lewandowski.

Kane was desperate to join Manchester City last summer but Spurs rejected at least two offers for the England captain, who reluctantly stayed in north London.

The forward’s contract runs until 2024 and Spurs are keen for him to sign fresh terms.

Kane is undoubtedly happier at the club than he was 12 months ago, with the 28-year-old feeling that the club are genuine contenders for silverware under Antonio Conte.

A move to Bayern would almost guarantee silverware, with the Germans winning the last ten Bundesliga titles.

And, though Kahn insists nothing is imminent, he has suggested Bayern could make a move for Kane next summer.

‘He is under contract at Tottenham,’ he told Bild.

‘Sure, he is an absolute top striker, but that’s all a dream of the future.

‘So let’s see what happens.’

With Lewandowski leaving, Bayern have been linked with a move for wantaway Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 37-year-old has made it clear to the club that he wants to leave in order to play Champions League football.

But Kahn says it would run against Bayern’s principles for them to sign the Portugal skipper.

‘I love Cristiano Ronaldo and everyone knows what a fantastic player he is,’ said Kahn.

‘But every club has a certain philosophy and I’m not sure if it would be the right signal for Bayern if we signed him.’
